Low Paying Job

My Grandfather had 3 siblings (My great aunt and two great uncles) who gambled for a living in Nevada.

Not glamorous at all. The would go play video poker in the beginning of the month until they had enough money for rent and groceries, then just sit around in those Smokey depressing dens wasting life.

You see if you have the spark, and you get greedy you get banned by the casinos. Once you get banned by 2-3 (even small ones) none of them want you around. They aren't there to make you rich.

Sure someone has to win once in a while, but there aren't there to create rags to riches stories. So they just made rent, and groceries, they lived pretty modestly. When I was little I thought they were cool. My aunt always had necklaces for me... Trinkets and stuff. Now I am older I realize it was all the junk the casino's give people to make them feel like they are "winning" when most people are getting steam rolled right over.

The whole thing just smells Smokey and sad to me. My kin made their living there. But what service did they provide society? What work did they do with their hands? What mark is left now that their lives have gone? Who can say they were touched?

The casinos they were fictures at, not really tourist attractions like the Vegas strip. They were far from the beaten track. Where the compulsive daily gamblers planted their soft seats on hard stools. Their money falling into slippery coffers. Who benefits from that? I rather put my money where it can help someone.

That is my two bits.

a low pay job will get you steady income.....gambling will not. if a steady income is important to you in order to live predictably and somewhat more comfortably, give that a try. gambling is fun but can be addictive. once it's gotten addictive, then you've got to battle the demons in your head. as mike said, have a job, any job, and on the side have some fun.

No body wins while gambling. only the casino wins. You might have a few good days but mostly you will not. Just get a regular job, and Gamble for entertainment.

Guy I know seems to get by gambling. Specifically by playing Roulette. I went with him to a casino once. He plays odds and evens - nothing else. He played for about half an hour and came away with £300. Evidently he does that every week. So its possible to live by gambling. Personally I wouldn't recommend it but that's my choice.
