Your question presumes knowledge that the person killed was a terrorist, and not just an ordinary goat herder.
If the person killed IS/WAS a terrorist, then DUHHH!!!
Phrase your idiotic idiology better next time and you won't get caught in your own trap.

Some silly unthinking answers here.
No doubt Rykkardo8 would happily not have prevented 9/11 by shooting a terrorist because they had not killed anyone yet!!
Sean T thinks one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. How sick is that? Freedom fighters fight military personnel. Terrorists kill innocent men, women and children and run like hell from any sort of confrontation from legitimate forces.
All Western countries have the same basic rule. Police and service personnel can only fire when they have an honestly held belief the person is about to commit an act that will kill someone.
Anyone can kill a terrorist in the act of anything that may kill someone. They will no doubt have to put up with all sorts of bleeding heart liberals who will accuse them of murder but they will walk free and should be proud that their act saved lives.

If you kill someone who you know has killed in the past and has bombs and is threatening to kill you, then you are the hero. Hezbollah is a terrorist group and there is no going around it. I will never support someone killing someone else to prove a point. War to protect the many innocent people who will suffer because of terrorist activities; yes. But just because you have the bombs and you can use them it doesn't make it right. Lebanon has to stand up for itself and say no to terrorism. I was there on 911 and all I could think about is what the hell do I have to do with all this ****!!!!! I know there are people in Lebanon and Israel feeling the same way. Sometimes tough decisions will cause others their lives and if killing terrorist will save me and my family in the US, then I say, happy bombing. Israel stand up and fight. I am glad that you are doing it so We in the US don't have to. We want to keep our sons, and husbands home. Keep your hate to yourself. I enjoy living without fear. Thanks.

Lets say there is a poisonous snake in your yard where your children, grandchildren, or siblings play. You know the snake is there and you know there is a good chance that the snake and the kids will come into contact. Do you just let the snake hang out where it may harm the kids, even though it hasn't yet? Do you sit around and hope and pray the snake doesn't hurt the kids? Do you wait until the snake bites one of the kids before you act? And after you act, do you second guess yourself? Not if you have any sense you dont, you kill it before it can harm the children you love.
So if you kill the snake before it bites your kids, does that make you a snake?

i think your getting the definition of a terrorist confused. The definition is any person that tries to cause fear or terror in a society or group to get his message out. So terrorist target places where lots of innocent citizens are and where the message can be spread more easily like malls, buses, or any busy places. A person who kills a terrorist is not a terrorist.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. NOW you're starting to get the point of "situational ethics", heheheh...

The dead person because you prevented a massacre. It would be self defense, the same as if someone were threatening to kill you.

if he/she hadn't commit any terrorist act in the past, he/she was not a terrorist yet, and who killed him/her would have to be prosecuted for murder, not terrorism.

Kill everyone at birth and you could prevent all possible crimes.
But only at the price of committing a worse crime.
