Nice is aprox 10 mins by taxi, you can catch one of the many buses, alternativley get one of the many taxi's top of the range mercedes that litter the place, aprox 20-25 euro's, ..
The town at present is undergoing a major development, in the fact a tramway is beign built..and at present is not looking it's best..
For a beer you can expect to pay 5 euro's for a fifty centi/ ltrs,
A coffee isn't the same as you are use to back home, ask for a coffee and you are liable to get an eggcup full which is very strong, and is known as expresso, if you want a lighter coffee ask for Cafè Au Lait, this come with milk...
Most French speak a little English, and generally very friendly..
Also look on line and type in french living and you will gain many tips..
If you get chance at the end of Nice is the Chateaux about 400 steps , as you climb you get to see the most wonderful views of promenade, des anglaise, at the top a man made waterfall and a place to have a drink...
Then 30 min train ride you can enter Italy, passing Monte Carlo but the train ride is spectacular..
If you need to know more give me a shout ..
As for the beaches, there is no sand it is all large stones and very uncomfortable to bathe on, and to walk in impossible....
If you want an English bar then look for Waynes, they have live music, serve proper beer, after a while you get fed up of the beers you find in the local bars...
Enjoy

It's a 15 minute bus ride. I lived in the South of France for 3 years and took the bus from Nice airport all the time.
Just so you know, every summer there are constant strikes at the airport, which disrupts the flight schedules. So be warned.

Nice is perfect for a short break/long weekend! Very stylish and yes quite expensive but also great to see surrounding areas of Cannes and Monaco. Very easy to get to by public transport (train) and not too expensive for return tickets. So in a weekend you can see all 3 places!

its splat in the middle mate, by the beach.
Take plenty of money - nice is expensive!
My husband went there last year for a conference, and a beer in the hotel cost £7!!!!!
Watch out for the taxi drivers as well, they rip you off.

whats up, the elements is great for the sea coast yet no for swiming that is to chilly, the sea water is at 16 to 17°C in april, so in case you want this temperature? For sweeden it' s ok. you are able to gown a tee blouse, the solar shine beetween 10.00pm to 04.00pm and it' warm. an extremely sturdy season to visit superb, not a large style of vacationers. Please excuse my english.
