I am going to party it up but i am only going to bring about 800 dollars for myself, for gambling, drink, food, and travel expenses for approximately three full days. What do you recommend for each section?
I play Texas Hold'em and plan on entering a few tournaments.
I plan on drinking, but I want to be safe about travel but keep the price down.
My plane flight and hotel is already booked. I am staying at the Stratosphere.
Any recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated.

well $800 will work if you are just going to play and drink. Eating you can find cheap however the strip casinos are not so cheap.
Go to www.vegas.com and look up dinning look for the cheap eats.
Vegas is not like it used to be, most of the casino lease space to big time chefs who charge for their art work. The last time we went was sept.05. We went to Fix at the bellagio entrees start at $30 side dishes $6 and dessert $12 plus tip tax and don't forget drinks.
you can find some decent buffets for lunch around $6
When my wife and I go the budget is set for $2500 this include's:
Flight and hotel and transportation to and from the hotel (last time it was $500) Imperial palace not the best but good location
Food for 2 saturday am-tuesday pm $250 this included any snacks bottled water starbucks etc. and one nice dinner
Show Tickets $125 we went to Reta Rudner at NY NY
Spa at Harrahs 50 minute message for 2 with tip $240
Guggenheim Hermetage museum at the Venetian $30
Gondola ride at the Venetian $25
transportation around vegas $50
M&M world $25
Souveniors, etc and tipping
Gambeling I set a budget of $750 for the 2 of us (thats $250 per day) and my wife never spends all of hers we came home with almost $400 left over. Played tons of black jack and did some slots.
Drinks never paid for one.
So if you are just paying your own way and not planning on doing anything but play and drink $you can get by on $800.
I would make a plan on how you expect to spend that money and always add the extra things like starbucks (if you do that) bottled water etc.
You don't want to have extra days left over and no money to do anything fun.
Don't forget the free stuff to see.
have a great trip

Gambling:::::::::::::::::
Sorry, don't gamble much. Stay away from the prestigious casinos though. They have high minimums. (Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage, monte carlo)
Drink::::::::::::::::::::::
check the clubbing section
Food:::::::::::::::::::::
At least one, try the Wynn Buffet! It is amazing. Treat it as a date dinner, you will spend about $30 per person, but the food is phenomonal. It is well worth it.
Travel:::::::::::::::::::
You should not have any issues traveling along the strip. You can walk a good part of it if you have to. If you will be visiting a lot of casinos, I recommend getting the 3 day monorail pass, although I don't know how late it operates. It allows you to travel the majority of the strip. Casinos will also typically offer complimentary shuttles to other locations, so keep a lookout for those and save your money. Taxi cab fairs are killers.
Clubbing:::::::::::::::::::::::
If you want to get into a club, try to go on days other than a Friday or a Saturday. There will be a huge line, even for VIPs, and a higher cover is normally charged too. As for the club, I recommend the following.
Tao at the Venetian is geared towards our age group. It is quite popular although you will have to wait a bit longer than any other club on the Strip.
Pure at Ceasars palace is also quite nice, but I don't like the crowd there. The age is in the upper 20's to mid 30's and its a little too snobby for my tastes. Also, it is expensive and will be extremely crowded (as is any club on the strip).
Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay is excellent. It was voted hottest club of the year a while ago. It has an excellent bar also.
I hear the club at Treasure Island is nice, although I haven't been there personally.
The Peppermill in is slightly off the Strip. It is not your normal club. It's more of a lounge with some dancing in retro fashion. I am only suggesting this because it is a very romantic place you and your girlfriend can spend time at. The cocktails are quite good too.
Stay away from Bellagio's Light and Wynn's Tryst. They are for older, very rich people ($14 cocktails wow.!)
With any club on the Strip, expect to be standing the whole time. With a budget of 800 you will not be able to reserve a table or a seat. Cherry at the Red Rock Casino, Whiskey Drop at Green Valley let you lounge for free along with not having a cover charge on most nights.
If you have a ride, I would recommend you go to the Red Rock Casino, and go to their club Cherry. It is really nice, it is not crowded at all, there is no cover, and drinks are cheap. There are padded beach chairs by a pool you can lounge in that you can access from the club whenever you want to take a break from dancing. The only problem is it's about 20 minutes away from the strip by car. Its an upscale local casino. I go to their club all the time.
You will probably spend a lot of your time away from the Stratosphere. It's kind of near a bad part of town (lol, i went to high school near there) so you will want a casino shuttle or a taxi ride to the main strip. On the Strip, you shouldn't worry about safety while walking. It is fine.
As for drinking, all the casinos will have fine bars with the price depending on the prestige of the casino. For example, treasure island bars will be cheaper than wynn bars. If you have the time, I highly recommend visiting Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay. It is really cool and has an amazing bar as well as a club scene.

$800 will last you about an hour. Clubs are not inexpensive. Drinks are overpriced. Beer $10 each. Strasosphere is at the far..old end of the strip, so you will be taking a cab to see the other casino's...$$$$ and get to the clubs. Clubs charge a cover for tourists...especially men.
Go to www.vegas.com and you can get VIP passes to the good clubs ahead of time. You will drink for free on the casino floor, but the liquer they use is crap and watered down. Cocktail waitresses frequent the tables rather than the slot machines. My recommendation is forget gambling at the Stratosphere. The Palms has the best poker room. BUT if you are going for her birthday, dont make it all about your gambling...let her enjoy her weekend with you. If she needs time away from you..thats fine. Haha! Anyway...dont stay at that end of the strip for long, the other end with the newer casino's is better. The Strat is old and in a bad area of Las Vegas Blvd.
Go to Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay or Tangerine at Treasure Island or the new club at Mirage called Jet.
Go see Zumanity at NYNY, its great for couples. You sit on love seats, rather than theater chairs. OR check out the new Cirque Show at Mirage called Love, its based around the Beatles.
Buffet's run about $30 and up per person for dinner. Make sure you go see the fountains at Bellagio, they run every 15 minutes and there is a different show each time. Watching from the Eieffel Tower across the street at Paris is a good view too.
If you want a cheap steak dinner go to Ellis Island off of Koval, $7.95. Service is slow, but food is good. Most of restaurants are 24 hrs off the strip and the Cafe's in the casino's.

Well knock yourself out. It is good to set a limit now, try to stick to it. I myself have never been there but I do know food is extremely cheap. You can have big buffets and nice dinners for like under 5 dollars. Its hard to recommend your limit for each section because you mentioned you were entering tournaments. What is the entry fee? What is the minium and maximum betting? What are your travelling expenses if you are taking plane? Do you mean car rental? Well here it goes I will try my best........
gambling - $500
drinks - $150
food - $50
other - $100
and remember what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, so have fun

there are always time share people walking about. If you go to a time share conference, they give you free stuff. My husband and i got free dinner, a gondala ride, and 2 wax museum tickets. It only takes an hour or so to listen to them talk and then you say you're not interested in purchases one and then collect your free stuff!
Also, if you are on the strip, you won't pay for a drink if you are gambling.
Have fun!

The only recommendations I can give you is the clubs.
Pure at Caesar's Place is great! I love it. The drink prices aren't bad - I love that you can go upstairs and be on the balcony...
Tangerine at Treasure Island - is OK. I thought it was over-priced drinks, they packed in way too many people, and it really wasn't that great.
HTH!
