Perspective. Most people handle the really big, life-changing tasks and challenges just fine. But they trip up on the little petty obstacles that they face on a daily basis. They treat the little problems like big problems, and then feel overwhelmed when the little problems keep coming at them. They try to control the flow of little problems by gaining more and more control of their environment, and they end up stressed out and paranoid when that fails.

I think most people just need to learn the old lesson: Don't sweat the small sh*t. Lighten up. Hell, most of the little problems don't even need to be addressed in the first place. Just focus on the big goals like getting a nice job and keeping the marriage together. If necessary, pay someone else to handle the routine stuff for you.

A clear vision of what life looks like and how you will live it under the new conditions. Google on 'visualization". It's powerful stuff.

If you're struggling in freefall, try and tether yourself to something that you can control: a job with predicatable schedule, a home address, a yoga class, a workable budget, anything like that. Take back your life one step at a time: take back your finances with a balanced budget, take back your kitchen with a menu plan and good shopping habits, take back your body with fresh air and exercise.

JimR's post reminded me of a good trick: carry a notepad and paper for a day, and make a list of all of the stuff that irritated you - squeaking door, etc. At the end of the day review your list. How much of it can be repaired/elimated with a bit of WD-40 or whatever.... You'd be surprised.

The ability to focus on the future rather than the past. Let go of whatever is holding you back and just keep moving forward...one step and one day at a time. Once you make a decision, don't second guess yourself and look back. Accept the decision you've made and see where the possibilities lead you.

IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN ANSWER THAN WHY DID YOU ASK US FOR HELP?WELL FOR THE OTHERS OF US THAT WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER I WILL TRY TO GIVE MY OPINION.......WE NEED TO LEARN IN ORDER TO SURVIVE IN THIS MASSIVE WORLD...EVERYDAY WE SHOULD BE LEARNING AS TO HOW TO MAKE YOURSELVES BETTER AT WHAT WE DO AND AT WHO WE ARE.....IT NEVER HURTS TO ASK QUESTIONS TO THINGS WE DON'T KNOW FROM OLDER PEOPLE OR PEOPLE WHO WOULD KNOW...BY ASKING QUESTIONS OF OTHERS WE LEARN THINGS FROM THEM , IT NEVER HURTS TO TAKE TIME OUT OF OUR BUSY SCHEDULES TO SIT AND READ TO HELP US LEARN MORE...THAT'S WHAT I BELIEVE..WE NEED TO LEARN ALL TIME...

We need the true belief that we can "get on" with life. If one believes that it is possible, it will be.
