I don't know what you mean by "showboating". His city was attacked - suddenly, without warning. He took control of the situation in a true heroic fashion. He showed outstanding leadership skills in every way. His book was published October of 2002. You call that hastily written? Perhaps you should read it and learn something called 'good character traits', which, obviously, you lack with this question.

Of all those who have been leaders since the 9/11 event, the least show-boating has to be Rudy Gulliani.
While any such interpretation is obviously subjective, Rudy Gulliani has been one of the more solid people with little political concern.
In this one I shall have to disagree with your assertion.
