I don't support Israel in what they are doing right now and I can't believe that so many people on Yahoo answers are backing Israel
on the current situation in the Middle East. America want Syria and Iran to stop supplying weapons to Hezbollah yet right now they (America) are rushing Smart bombs over to Israel because they are running low on weapons having killed so many innocent people in Lebanon. Why such hypocrisy?

You are somewhat over the top here!!

Hundreds of civilians killed? No it is still in the tens. Watch the news and read the papers. Or have you got a private information source?

Questions 2 and 3 are covered simply by the fact that the UN, G8 Europe all agree Isreal has a right to defend itself and cutting supply routes for Hezbollah is a legitimate target.

Even in the worst times for Lebanon there was never a complete end to trade and this is far less invasive!

Thousands who will need medical care for the rest of their lives. A complete and extreme exageration. Again watch the news, read the papers. Or have you a secret source the rest of the world is denied?

The only nation threatened with destruction is Israel!!!! Both Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and Syria have this as their aim. Israel on the other hand has been striving for peace on the world stage for year!

Question 7 has a little sense to it. The UN has had a line in Lebanon to monitor the border. They can only watch and not intervene. They have watched, along with the Lebanese government, Hamas build a war machine to attack Israel. No surprise there is now a war is it?

The way to stop this and prevent any future strife for Lebanon is simple. Isolate Iran and Syria until they agree to Israels right to exist and to stop supplying weapons to the terrorists. Give armed backing to Lebanon to keep the terrorist out of their borders.

You conveniently forget the fight Lebanon put up to get Syria forced out of it's illegal occupation of Lebanon. Had they also been able to stop syria providing the arms and funding Hezbollah this war would not be happening now.

Sadly it sounds like you have taken sides!

No one wants this war but so long as people support the terrorists as your question appears to do, the loss of life and failure to achieve peace will continue.

Hope you are proud of yourself.

Was it allright to try to destroy Israel? Israel tried in every way possible to live peacefully with its neighbors. They are surrounded on all sides with countries that harbor terrorists. From the day Israel was established, the attacks began. The Israelis even bulldozed their own settlements and gave the land to the Arabs, but nothing short of the annihilation of Israel would satisfy them. The suicide bombers got on Israeli school buses and went into the market places. Missiles were aimed at resorts and cities and hundreds more were poised on the border. Israel even built a wall but it didn't keep the terrorists out. When 2 soldiers were kidnapped, Israel had enough. The did what the US should be doing; they went after the terrorist's headquarters and training grounds. These are the same terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 and have attacked Britain, India and other countries. Israel is the only ally of the US in the Middle East and the only democracy in the region. They have a right to defend themselves.

I will always support Israel. How many nations do you know of will drop pamphlets to warn civilians to vacate an area before it is bombed. Does Hezbollah, Hamas, and any other useless terrorist group give the same courtesy to those in places where they plan on detonating a bomb? I'm sure the people of NYC, London, Madrid and Mumbai would have appreciated the heads up. Israel left Gaza last year yet, rockets keep coming into Israel. They left Lebanon 6 years ago again, rockets keep coming from Lebanon into Israel. The UN has been useless in enforcing it's own resolutions so I say to Israel, thank you for doing what the rest of the world has been unwilling to do: get rid of Hezbollah!!!I

Oh well!
Israel must do whatever it takes to destroy Hezbollah! If no one else, (including Lebanon), won't step up to the plate, what choice do they have? Look all throughout the Bible... God never said, "Avoid civilian casualties!"
Israel is God's land populated with "His" people! So from now until the end, (which is in our generation by all accounts), Israel will not again lose a battle! God is behind them, so who can come against them... No One! Watch and be amazed!

The Lebanese and the rest of the muslim.arab world has to ACKNOWLEDGE that whilst the USA and Europe tolerate or avoid any action in response to terrorism (England didn't retaliate at all after the London bombing; Madrid train bombing; Bombay train bombing...)
But Israel is searing the message forever that if a government allows a terrorist group to thrive unlimitedly in their borders while launching hourly rockets at peaceful towns/villages in a sovereign country it will be destroyed regardless of who's FAULT it is.
FOR GODS SAKE THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN'S GAME! YOU DON'T POINT FINGERS AROUND LIKE THE UN/EU, YOU BOMB YOU ATTACKERS! YOU BOMB YOUR TERRORISTS! YOU SABOTAGE THE SPONSORING COUNTRIES, WHICH HAPPEN TO BE THE BIGGEST ENEMIES OF OUR COUNTRY .
Get some sense to ur heads people. stop licking the arab's asses thinking it will do u good because they'll stop. Arabs have it in their blood to BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS THEM. SO only by bombing them they understand NOT.TO.MESS

Yes. If Israel continued attacking these different Arab/Islamist groups after they renounced violence (for real) and said they would make good faith attempts to coexist peacefully. I don't know how Israel could possibly trust any of those groups making such claims now but if Hezbollah and Hamas did these things and Israel continued to attack them then they would lose my support.

It's admirable that you care so much about the people of Lebanon. However, they failed in their duty to control Hezbollah. Unfortunately, Hezbollah has just written a check that all of Lebanon has to cash. Kind of a crazy analogy but...What would you do if your loved one ran up a bill? Would you take away their credit card or would you sue the merchant where they shopped?

Certainly at least not a war with a country openly supporting a terrorist group who has conducted military actions on Israel.
