Every country has something to offer. Next time you buy something check out the label of where it was made. It's not just the oil, it's fabrics, food, etc. Check out the .99 cent stores, the grocery outlet stores. Modern exportation and importation has been in our country since its founding. It is patriotic to sell and trade....we not only wave our American flag because we are proud but because we are who we are. American is a capitalist nation, although some American's are barely making ends meet. But neverthe less, it is a capitalist nation. There is no getting around this.

What does flying an American flag have to do with where oil comes from? Orange juice comes from Florida, does that mean people in New Jersey shouldn't drink it?

Sure, it is. The gas in our tanks was bought and paid for, wasn't it?

Other products available to us in exchange for American dollars include French Champagne, Japanese anime, German cars, Canadian lumber, Icelandic fish, Greek olives, and those cunning little pouches made from hollowed-out you-know-whats from Australian kangaroos.

That really depends, am I being patriotic if I drink french wine, or Japanese tea? I think it is probably unhealthy to link patriotism with nativism and xenophobia

Especially since most of those cars are Toyotas and Hondas! Last I looked, those weren't made in the heartland of America.
