in the chunin exam preliminaries hinata goes up against her cousin neji hyuga. neji knows that he can defeat her easily but decides to attack her mentally and unbalance her. he tells her that she is a spoiled child and gives her a speech about how fate cannot change bringing hinata to tears. by doing this naruto becomes enraged causing him to yell for hinata to stand up for herself giving hinata an urge not to give up. despite her attempts to defeat neji though, neji nearly kills her when hinata states that neji is the one that is suffering at the hands of fate.

Sometimes, this can be pretty unfair. Lots of people know the answer to this question but there can just be faster people with computers to see this question before other people, or faster typers who can click on "preview" before other people. Yes, the answer is Neji because Neji was the only one that battled Hinata in the Chuunin exam.

She goes up against Neji. She put up a real fight, but in the end she collapsed 'cuz she took 2 much damage. Neji wuz declared winner, he also intended 2 kill her, but got stopped by the jounin.
