Yes, but it is one of the most competitive field in engineering, since it covers both realms of electrical engineering (hardware) and computer science (software).
Of course, you should choose it only if you have great interest in it, not just for the money.
Also, you should have some interests in or are good at some of the following: math, physics (espacially E&M), programming, and critical thinking.
Note that, computer engineering, nor do computer science and electrical engineering, teaches you how to build a computer. They go more into how things work and how to design them. For example, circuits, transistors (BJT and MOSFET), networking, operating system, database, etc.
Oh yeah, you also need to have the grades for it to get accepted or transfer into a computer engineering program.

It most certainly is, the computing field is not going to become saturated anytime soon due to its rapid expansion. In fact that is a career that I myself am considering. If you enjoy fixing computers, using them, upgrading them, designing circuits and/or writing programs, I would suggest Computer engineering.
