Doesn't Matter. We DON'T owe it to him to follow him BLINDLY. EVER. Nowhere is that written. In fact, that would be unpatriotic.

Well, a Pres. will work better for the people if the people are well educated to understand the issues involved and not just from a superficial perspective that is given by the media and news. People need to be trained to think for themselves, understand the nation's history and the people's true opinion and then they can question rightly. It is just as wrong to question blindly as it is to follow blindly. You don't just hold predjudice against a President and question his every action because of your own personal views. People who don't understand history, all of the viewpoints involved, and understanding of more than just their personal view - cannot question rightly. Another thing is that just because an individual is President doesn't mean that he's making all of the decisions, if you understand politics - there are checks and balances in place so the liberal view actually has a ton of power within this administration. You can't blame the fact that there is a war going on the current administration. If we didn't have a strong government to fight for democracy - North Korea may certainly have bombed us by now. Perhaps Bin Laden and his cohorts may have done worse things to our nation than 911 - who would be blame for that? The current administration. People also tend to blame the current administration for any economic woes and if you understand enough about how the economy works - there is an ebb and flow and you can't always be booming - even with a liberal democrat as President. I think that we overestimate the power of one person or one administration and are overly critical because of our personal viewpoints rather than really looking at the reality of the situation. So there is a balance between being critical and supporting actions and it should be based on knowlege not just emotional viewpoints of whether you're a liberal or conservative. I think that is the real reason why the current adminstration has made many decisions and with many liberals support as well.

the president would work better for the people if that was what his concern was- but the current administration's main concern is profiting from war.
If the president actually wanted to serve the people, it wouldn't matter whether they all supported him blindly, or all questioned his every action (neither of these would be the case anyway, since EVERYBODY isn't going to do the same thing)

If we were assured to have an honorable President, then yes, people should blindly follow the President. However, that is CLEARLY not the case nor has it been in my lifetime.

There will never be a president everyone supports.....human nature won't allow it,I think it would just be better to get a president with some brains. Let's just be thankful Bush can't be reelected

Question his every action. . . that is all part of the beauty of living in America. We CAN question his every action since if he really goes against the people's wishes, we have the opportunity to impeach him!

Boy, are you naive !!! We would all like to think the President works for us people, right? Forget it, there are too many powerful businesses and corporations sending him big money.

If he worked for us people, would gas prices be this high??
Would his tax breaks favor the rich and not the poor and middle class??

Politicians only refer to the "American People" because theoretically, we elected him or her. But they respond to money.
