There's this lady i met while doing some shopping and while we were standing in line we began talking. Well in the middle of our conversation she begins telling me how tired she's been because she's been dealing with her son (whose 7) who has been killing their family pets. (2 dogs and 1 cat) She said her and her husband show him alot of attention and doesn't get why her son keeps killing off their animals and but isn't going to worry because she thinks it's just a phase. I told her that although i dont have children. My past occupation for years had been based on working with children. And a child who is dilberately harming animals has some serious psychologial issues and anger problems that need to be dealt with A.S.A.P. If she passes this off as a phase she will find that after a while killing off animals wont satisfy his urge and he may result to harming people instead. It's better to get him help now than regret it later. This behavior will only manifest if not treated.

This goes beyond the child. At age 7 he may be acting out on his feelings. It may be that he is being abused by a parent, sibling, cousin, neighbor. It might be verbal, physical or sexual. He might be witnessing his mother being beaten and is acting out on the animals and ends up killing them. He could hurt smaller children too. If anyone reads this and knows of this type of behavior, please do something. Most adult criminals are repeat offenders and when they are caught they have already got a long list of offenses behind them. Children are not born bad and he doesn't need to be ignored. This will escalate and he will join the ranks of our prison society. Help is needed now. I hope this mother realizes this and seeks help for him if not then you may see her again and can speak up. Print this out and show her. Not only is this a sign of future problems, but this child is in danger and could be injured or killed by the person hurting him. I'm glad you care.

Yeah, the kid definitely has an issue, or two, or three. But basic counseling won't work, I think. He needs some serious testing, maybe even put on some meds. This is definitely NOT normal and I'm surprised his parents haven't done something about it yet!!

You're right though, too. Eventually hurting animals will become boring and then what? Little kids?
