I have a visit planned at WDW in November and i want to make sure that there are plenty of new things to see and do since my last visit about six years ago. Also i want to treat myself and my friend to a very nice hotel on property, but does this exist? If not, what is a very nice luxury hotel in the Orlando area to stay at?

Best and newest Attractions by Park:
Animal Kingdom: The new Everest Roller Coaster, the Safari Ride
Epcot: Soarin, The Living Seas
Magic Kingdom: The Haunted Mansion, The Log Flume Ride
MGM: The Movie Ride, Narnia Exhibit, Tower of Terror

Best Luxury Disney Hotel: Beach Club - You can literally walk into the EPCOT world showcase from this hotel. It has the best pool of all of the Luxury Disney Hotels and you can still swim outside in mid November.

Best Moderately Priced Hotel: Doubletree Suites just inside the east gate of WDW near Downtown Disney. These suites are big and include a refrigerator, microwave, wet bar, heavenly bed, and nice sitting area. The hotel offers shuttle bus transportation to the parks and a small convenience store on site. You will find moderately priced restaurants, shopping and grocery stores on 535 just outside of the east gate.

My wife and I actually stayed at both of these hotels last November and December and would stay at them again.

Disney is so different since your last visit, it is almost going to be like a completely different place. I think you will be able to find plenty to do.

As far as where to stay, Disney has great options for deluxe resorts. Since you did mention you are going to take your friend, I wasn't sure if there was just two of you or more. If there are more, I like staying at the Villas, they have several great options. However, if you don't need a villa, my absolute favorite deluxes are Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Club and the Boardwalk. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Wilderness Lodge is also nice, Wilderness and Animal Kingdom run a little less than the other deluxes.

I really suggest staying onsite, it is so much nicer. If you stay at a resort with the monorail, it is even nicer. Staying offsite can work, but you should rent a car and such, I feel being onsite is better. I recommend staying at the deluxes if you are wanting a really nice place to stay, but the moderates are also nice. The only thing I would recommend staying away from if you want a really nice place is the values, they tend to be noisy and things. Coronado, in the moderate category, works great if you don't want to spend as much as a deluxe, but want something a little nicer.

I hope this helps!

The most recent attractions at Walt Disney World are Expedition Everest, Mission: SPACE, Test Track, and Soarin'. The best attractions, besides the the ones previously listed, are Spaceship Earth, the Haunted Mansion, the Carousel of Progress, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Rockin' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Kilimanjaro Safaris, etc. I love all attractions at Walt Disney World.

My favorite Resort on WDW property, and also one of the Deluxe Resorts, is the Polynesian Resort. It's so beautiful! And there's so much to do. My favorite part is getting a room with a view of the Magic Kingdom across Seven Seas Lagoon. I also love that there's a white-sand beach with hammocks, perfect for viewing the Wishes fireworks from the Magic Kingdom at night. Best thing is that it's right on property, close to the parks, and it's a monorail Resort. Also, it was one of the first Resorts, the other being the Contemporary Resort.

There are lots of fabulous hotels on property, and if you call 407-WDISNEY, they can tell you about different package deals that exist. Just recently, Disney started a Dining Plan Package, where you get your hotel room, tickets and some meals all for one price.
Some of my favorite Disney hotels are-
The Animal Kingdom Lodge- A beautiful African themed lodge-style hotel. I would definately recommend spending the extra money for a "Savannah-View" room- Your balcony in these rooms looks out over a savannah with giraffes, zebra, bongos and other live African wildlife.
The Grand Floridian- Disney's flagship resort. It's a gorgeous, ultra luxurious Victorian hotel, modeled after the Hotel del Coronado in California. It has several great restuarants, including a seafood restaurant called Narcoossee's (which is one of my favorite restaurants on property) and Victoria and Alberts (which is the only 5-star restaurant in Central Florida). It sits on Bay Lake, and has a monorail station, and also a full service spa.

As far as what's new, there's lots of new stuff! At Magic Kingdom, there's Mickey's Philharmagic (a fantastic 3-D movie!), a new fireworks show and Pirates of the Caribbean has been newly remodeled (with Captain Jack and Captain Barbosa figures) amongst other things.
At the other parks, there's Soarin' and Mission: Space at Epcot; Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show and Rock 'n' Rollercoaster at Disney MGM Studios; Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom... There's lots of new stuff!

Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom is new, as well as Mission: Space at Epcot.

WDW has tons of on-site hotels, ranging from budget (the All-Star resorts) to luxury (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, etc.). There are many high-end hotels at the resort, but the three I just mentioned are on the monorail and are the most convenient for touring the parks.

Buy a good guidebook and research all about it. I highly recommend "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" by Bob Sehlinger. It gives unbiased reviews of all the rides, shows, attractions, and restaurants in the parks, as well as restaurants and hotels throughout the resort. It's an invaluable reference.
