We are thinking about going up towards Marin and want to enjoy the weather. We also don't want to get stuck in bad traffic since it is so hot in the city and its surrounding areas today (and I am sure everyone is heading out of town)! We are looking for some new day trip ideas..

Spend to day in the wine country tasting wine.
Drive down the coast to Montrey or Big Sur.
Drive up above Grass Valley and take Hwy 49 along the Yuba River where the part of the gold rush days began.

Don't leave the city.
It is cooler temps in San Francisco than anywhere else in Northern California. Napa Valley was 109 today. San francisco was only in low 80's.

You could cut down to San Jose and visit the Winchester Mystery House. It's a really cool tour.

You can take the BART from downtown SF across the bay to Berkeley, if you are interested in a funky/cool college atmosphere with eclectic shops and cheap eats.

Monterey - Go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
