Actually, yeah, I agree with her about the "iconic" thing. People remember intelligent, famous actors, kind woman who rise from nothing, and slutty, talentless, brainless rich girls. (Hmmm. Which category does Ms. Hilton fall into? I wonder...) But honestly, does she actually know what "iconic" means? Or decade? Or think?
Paris Hilton is famous, not because of talent, but because of her rich daddy. So everyone knows her name and knows she's the biggest blonde around.
However, unlike Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana, Paris has contributed nothing to society except "spreading the stupidity". She rides through life without a care, can get away with making a porn movie, and thinks she's all that. However, a more iconic blonde of this decade might be, you know, someone who actually has a talent. Besides saying, "That's hot".
Get a life, Paris. And a brain. And some condoms.

She may be right--although my initial thought was what somebody just said: It's probably Gwen Stefani who is this decade's blonde icon.
The deal is this, though: Bleach is out right now. If there weren't so many female brunette superstars right now--that is, if bleach were in, and there were more blondes to choose from--Paris wouldn't even be considered.
Only time will tell, however. The passage of time--and the subsequent establishment of history--tends to surprise people, in that who we thought was important or iconic or whatever turns out to have been some dumb flash in the pan that few could see past due to all of the noise they were making at the time.
Along those same lines, though, it is sad that Paris is thinking of her place in history while she is in the present. She is trying to sculpt history to her liking, and probably figures that if she goes around saying that she is this decade's blonde icon, people will believe that, and that is the way history will be written.
I personally think this decade's blond icon is Eminem. He's very pretty. :-D
An icon is also something painted on a wooden panel. Paris seems to be a person painted on a wooden panel. So it is fitting that she be seen as an icon. Wood + paint = wood + paint. Make sense?
Bottom line: Who gives a crap about any of this? A valuable life is not defined by how many people think that you are iconic.

Marilyn Monroe & Princess Diana ACTUALLY did things to become icons. Marilyn was an actress. Princess Di was involved with charities. What has Paris ddone? Nothing! To become an icon, you need to actually do something even just SLIGHTLY important! All Paris is, is an insipid little twit.

I don't really follow celebrities' lives all that closely, so I don't know all that much about Paris Hilton, but has she ever done anything remotely important or useful or entertaining? Is she famous for anything other than being born rich?
I can't imagine how she can compare herself to Marilyn or Diana. If she is an Icon of anything, it's an icon of stupidity.

No way do I agree with Paris Hilton, and I think she just insulted Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana by trying to put herself in the same category.

No, I really don't agree with her. I can see how she would try to put herself in the same category as Marilyn Monroe, but Princess Diana??? Yeah right, dream on. Princess Diana was such a loving, giving individual and all that Paris Hilton gives us are snapshots of her hoohoo when she gets out of a car.

Well she's not my idea of an "icon" of any kind, except possibly spoiled rich girls in America. If her family did not have a fortune, I doubt we would have ever seen or heard of Ms. Hilton, she is not even very pretty in my opinion.
Marilyn on the other hand came from meager beginnings, her life was not one of a spoiled little rich girl, she did not have her fame handed to her on a silver or lead crystal serving tray! Marilyn's life was also rather brief, and fairly tragic at times. I think Paris is flattering herself when she tries to claim the kind of beauty or fame of "Norma Jean"! I don't see any comPARISon (please excuse that poor pun!), except that both of them probably might be classed as women of questionable morals? I mean as the story goes, Marilyn was not exactly chaste or particularly shy about using her sexuality to get to high places, and I think she was a very sexy woman!
If not for the Hilton family wealth, I don't think Paris would be anything but a dumb, homely stringy-haired bimbo. (Sorry, just my opinion). You would think her family would have gotten her the nose fixed first, BEFORE the breast implants, I mean at least try to put your best face forward before you add fake breasts! Then again, I guess your face ain't all that important if you have the breast implants first?
Nope, I think Paris is wrong about this one...no way to compare her and Marilyn!
Nothing alike! Paris should have to live through some of the adversities that Marilyn faced in her life! It would be like ("Fear Factor" for her probably), but "The REAL Life" instead of "The "Simple-Minded" Life!"

Marilyn passed away 44 years ago, Diana 9. Both were beautiful, loving women always giving joy to others, whether it was through their talent or charitable causes. Both are still well remembered. Who will remember Paris Hilton in 5 years, much less in 5 years after she's gone?
