I say Johnny Depp..he is talented beyond belief. I think he will go down in history as being one of the best...if not the best. I think he is a modern day James Dean.

There are several quality actors out there. I agree that Johnny is one of them. He reminds me of a modern day James Dean as well.

You can't really compare anyone to James Dean. He was unique and one of a kind and there will never be another man like him...
As far as range goes, I agree with you. Johnny Depp has played so many different roles and has done such a good job in all of them that it's amazing how easily he can change in each one. But James Dean only got to be in three movies before he died, and Johnny Depp has been in dozens, so it's not really fair to compare the two. Who knows what Jimmy could have done if he had been given the chance?

Are you asking about the greatest or the cutest? James Dean was hot, but he really wasn't that great an actor. Please do Johnny Depp a favor and compare him to someone with more talent.
I do agree that Depp is pretty good. I like the fact that he doesn't capitalize on his looks and plays some "out there", risky roles. I really like Ewan McGregor. Especially his earlier movies like Shallow Grave and The Pillow Book.
All in all, though, my vote goes to Samuel Jackson. Man he's great. Not a bad part in his repertoire! Oooh, I noticed that both McGregor & Jackson were in Star Wars. Trust me, that is not the reason...hated Star Wars (a big thumbs down!)

James Dean did not have enough time to see if he was really that good...he played one kind of part...the brooding conflicted boy/man.
Johnny Depp, so far, seems able to play ANYTHING very well....never two characters alike. I am with you, he is numero uno today.
