*sigh* first correct the spelling omer, its PAKISTAN and not pkistan..
pakistan started work on nuclear weapons in 1982 and was successful in testing the first missle capable of carrying a nuclear warhead (aka a nuclear missle) on 28th May 1998 in reply to the indian nuclear tests. the day was marked as a national holiday and titled Yaum-e-Takbir untill the new regime decided to reduce the total national holidays. Thus, on 28th May 1998 the official claim was made.
