It is not something that has been scientifically proven...yet. Perhaps your son will be the space traveler who finds out.

Many believe that they don't. But I believe that they lead to parallel universes. I don't believe were living in just one solar system inside one universe. I believe we are a block joined together by many universes. We are not the only world there is. If you believe that your a fool and will believe anything. So to answer your question yes black holes may lead to parallel universes.

There is no way to know for sure as it is impossible to probe a black hole. We cannot send any device into a black hole to gather data as it can never return to tell us anything. The force of gravity is far to immense in a black hole. There are theories that black holes are gateways to parts of our existing universe, but they have not been proven. This specific area is still considered science fiction. You might have your son read some books that Stephen Hawking has written as he is one of the top guys when it comes to black hole information. Remember though, most of the information is theoretical.

no one knows for certain - however i do know that with such enourmous energy being sucked in anything could be possible. as a fellow dr who fan - the third doctor was joined by both number and number into a world of anti-matter - this was where omega lived - he had been experimenting with supernova (exploding stars) and was stuck in a parallel world - so who knows! i would like to think that parallel universes were posible but doubt that we will ever find out - keep up with doctor who it is as good as it ever was!!

Theoretically yes because gravity has an effect on time and space, since a blck hole is just like this huge piece of material that has so much gravity that the center of the black hole may just lead to a parralel world/reality/universe

Iv'e studied this very deeply, & would be proud if I could give a simple explanation.

....... The universe is made out of pure energy.
Black holes turns asteroids, planets & stars back into that energy. That includes positive energy, negative energy, and the special neutral energy that actually does go through the black hole to make stars and planets in a more advanced, different universe.
i'd stake my 25 years of notes on that!

Hi Donna & Jack , Can't answer this one myself but suggest You get in touch with Stephen Hawkin .I watched a programme with him talking about black holes and such like , I couldn't even understand the adverts in the breaks !
p.s. I have sent you an IM Donna but the system is down at the moment Bill :-)

No, black holes basically black holes are so called because they are a site of intense gravity, so great that even light can't escape from it (so it doesn't reflect any light and therefore appears black).

Black holes are formed when a star (like our sun) collaspses in on itself at the end of it's life cycle.

Hoep that helps.

i think if we could travel through the a black hole we would find all the matches to the socks that no longer have a mate. i'm not joking. i think there are probably three sets of my keys hanging out on the other side of the black hole closest to earth.

No parallel world exist. Black holes are nut tunnels.

Knock on the side of the hole. They may be another world running parallel. If no answer, the answer is no.
