There are millions of differences and almost as many similarities.
The USA is a melting pot of many ethnias...
Europe is where most of them came from...
So actually what was once on one side of the Atlantic ended up on the other.
Racism...in some countries you will find it more marked than others, usually because of the illegal immigration from Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and South America, this used to be a slow drip of people, but is now becoming a flood...and starting to worry europeans, but on general terms racism is no worse then in the USA.
Finance...Since the Euro came into being, Europe has become more expensive. But we are all surviving, and I don't suppose it is worse than any other part of the world...
Environment...Again each country is different...Some countries are more ecologically minded, others not. And every country has different landscapes...Mountains, plains, valleys. Holand is very flat, Switzerland very hilly...Again you have plenty to choose from!
Government: You have monarchies in Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, England, & Spain (where I live). Other small countries have a Prince or Grand Duke as head of state.(Monaco, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg)
But most of the large countries are now republics.
The food...In Europe each country has its own type of food and way to prepare it...
In the US the cooking of Europe has been adapted and changed to fit the country's needs, sometimes for better, but not always!(The best pizzas in the world are american as are some of the best Ice Creams!).
It would take days to name all the differences...
One very marked difference is that the USA is a very YOUNG country..You won't find a city with medieval buildings, or local history running back beyond, at most the 1500's (except for Native American history, and some prehistoric of course). Most european cities have historical sites worth visiting and many museums...
But remember people are people all over the world...If you smile, you will usually get a smile in return, no matter where you are...
Some advice:
If you are moving to a country that has a language different to yours, learn the language of the new place...Even if you don't speak it properly the local people will appreciate your effort and prove more helpful to you themselves!
Hope this helps you out! And welcome to Europe...if you decide to join us here!

There is a better work-life balance in Europe (with the possible exception of the UK). Most countries have laws that protect workers rights so we get longer paid holidays, minimum wages etc.
Food is more diverse (understandably - you are comparing a country and a whole continent).
Public transport is more widespread in Europe.
Many countries have public (ie free at source) health services.
Europe is old - history is everwhere!
Education is better (if the standard of literacy on this board is anything to go by). 8-)
On the plus side for the US, customer service is better and the cost of living is cheaper. Also (perhaps a little contraversially) manners in the US seem to be better than many European countries - and I include the UK in that.

I would say the biggest difference I have noticed is that socialized government and medical systems. Most here are guaranteed medical services. The drinking ages are younger and the driving ages higher. Food is expensive and there is not as much variety in the grocery stores as in the USA. The best deal is in Sweden: college education is free for both Swedes and citizens of other countries, all children receive about 100 dollars per month to help with living expenses and, best of all, custodial parents get their child support every month regardless of whether the absent parent pays or not and then the government collects it from the absent parent! Conversely, in Sweden, if you have bills in collection then you are scum and you will never get out from under them until you pay them off. However, if you commit murder the sentences are much lighter than the USA--you will be out in max 20 years.

Immigration to stay and live is not as common in Europe as the U.S.; I know it does happen but not to the degree of this country. In European countries the immigrants are typically from prior colonies or in the country as guest workers. If they intend to stay in most of them they are required to learn the national language and melt into the society much more then in the U.S. I don't know which is the better way and part of this is because American culture is a mix of different nationalities to start with though mostly English and German while the Europeans have a longer and more distinct culture with countries bordering each other.

Europe is old and has worked through many of the differences you described while America is the new kid on the block and we are still finding our way. Either way, the more money you have the more influence you have on your environment not the other way around, therefore the differences will not make a difference in your lifestyle.

Basic difference is this:
In Europe, a hundred miles is a long distance.
In America, a hundred years is a long time.
Oh and, "entrée" isn't the main part of your meal here, it's the first course.

There's no comparison. The US is one country, and Europe has many countries. How can you compare one relatively new country to a bunch of old countries? You can't.
