it is 6

2/3 * 2/2= 4/6
= 1/6

(you multiply by 2/2 because 2/2 is equal to one so the value of 2/3 stays the same)

To find the LCD, you look at the denominators and find their lowest common multiple. In this case the denomiators are 6 and 3. The smallest multiple that 6 and 3 share is 6 so

1/6 remains the same, but 2/3 would change. In order to change the 3 to a 6 you multiply by 2 and hence, you would multiply the numerator (2) by 2 as well which in this case would be 4. By multiplying the numerator and the denominator by the same number, you are not changing its value because you are multiplying the fraction by 1...in this case the 1 was in the form of (2/2).

thus 1/6 and 4/6 would be the final answer

The LCD is the lowest non-zero number that is a multiple of BOTH denominators.

1/6 and 2/3 are similar in that 3 can be made into 6, as 3X2 is 6. Therefore, the LCD is 6.

Now, for the next step: multiply both the numerator and denominator of 2/3 by 2, so that both fractions have a denominator of 6.

You should get 4/6. Now the fractions are equivalent, as they can be easily compared.

I wish you the best of all, and hope I was of some help.

The lowest common denominator is the smallest number you can write for the bottom number that both numbers will fit evenly into. Six works here, so you'd have 1/6 and 4/6.
