you discover your learning style by varying the ways you absorb new information and seeing what works best for you. some knowledge has to be mastered by doing/practicing (playing an instrument, cooking, home repairs). other stuff you can pick up in books, on the internet, on TV/videos.

I am multimodal, but I'm strongest in the visual and kinesthetic areas. I learned mine through the VARK (Visual Aural Read/Write Kinesthetic) assessment, available for free on-line. The VARK is a teacher favorite, because it is free yet scientifically valid.

You normally do a simple test with around 40 questiuons that ask things like "do you talk to mates, or txt them" etc etc to discover what your style is.

Visual and kinetic. It was just always easier for me to remember what I read or wrote than what I heard, and I always did 3-D projects instead of reports when I had the choice.

Yes, I do. As I'm a teacher of English and self taught on how to speak English, I'm sure I learn more effectively by reading and talking to people.
