the bala sharks are very timid and get knocked away from food by the molys.

I had this same experience. He could just be hiding in a very secret place. I had this happen to me and I finally found him later that day. Your bala sharks are semi agrresive fish could bother n possibly eat your pleco. Unless you have the Blue Damselfish or the Orangtail Blue Damselfish your mollys are also peaceful and not big enough to eat the pleco. And all corys are peaceful and related to the pleco in a way. I would keep looking for your pleco, if you dont find it, then the Bala Sharks did eat it. Please e-mail me and tell me what happen to your pleco, intrested.

It is definitely not uncommon that your brand new 1.5 inch pleco was eaten. During my years of fish keeping, I've had three fish of mine 'disappear'. But with careful examination, I came to found out that they were eaten. One was a 2 inch Rainbow Fish, one was a small Otto, and one was a young Bulldog Pleco.

With large fish like bala sharks, its possible that the pleco was picked on, and then aten by the bottom feeders over night. The remains will probably end up in your gravel, and go away with time. But this is not uncommon. It is usually newer fish that may 'disappear'- make sure to keep a close eye on their behavior, and with the other tankmates. Usually bigger fish can hold their own, and won't be taken so easily.

Do you have a power head in your aquarium? If so take it apart and look there.
I lost a pleco as well and thats where I found him a day later. He didn't live obviously.
