For those who have gone, what types of things did you spend money on?

(Tuition, food, plane ticket are already down on my list)

What other expenses have you had as an international student?

And if anyone has/does attend Orebro or Vaxjo university in Sweden, what do they think?

In addition to those mentioned, health insurance and travel insurance are vitally important. If you have your belongings stolen, or need to go home because you are ill, you will want some help with that. Also check on local taxation before you go. Buying new clothes and doing laundry, running a car (maintenance, insurance, petrol), utilities (gas, water, electricity, phone), mobile phone etc should all be factored in.

When you are calculating your costs, you will need to take basic differences in the cost of living into account (a burger does NOT cost the same wherever you go!). A great site which ranks the relative costs for different countries/cities is:

http://www.finfacts.com/costofliving.htm

A good site for students who want to get a sense of their budgeting is at:

http://www.thefrugalshopper.com/articles/student.shtml

but google 'budgeting for students' and you will get a raft of suggestions.

Good luck and enjoy the experience!

Eurail!!! this is the sweetest deal ever. Get a train pass that lets you go anywhere in Europe for one low price. I'd also stock up on a good travel guide or two. and maybe a membership to Hostels International if you don't mind staying in dorm-style housing when you travel. It's such a great way to see Europe. Enjoy your experience--you will treasure it forever!

You'll want to travel, so train tickets or flights and hotels/hostels, plus you'll eat out a lot on these travels. Plan to buy gifts/souvenoirs, and you'll want to take a lot of photos, so if you don't have a digital camera you'll need to develop them.

You're counting room and board in with the tuition? Any books for your classes?

Don't forget to factor in exchange rates.
