I had a miscarriage May 12, 2006 & hardly bled at all afterwards which was weird cuz I had one in 1995 and bled SO much, clots the size of lemons. Well I never even had a period since my m/c and my dr. keeps telling me its normal. My pregnancy tests keot coming up + for weeks and weeks afterwards but my pregnancy hormone was going down lower & lower. Now they are coming up - but I still havent had a period. I am now on the patch hoping it'll straighten up my period but on my off week I had that nasty brownish old bloody mischarge you get ( sorry I know its gross) & I thought my period was coming but it never did. Anyone ever experience something like this before?? Is my body just messed up?? My dr. keeps telling me to be patient and let my body get back to normal after my miscarriage but its been almost 3 mos. HELP

I had a miscarriage two years ago and the amount of blood was like a normal period but lots more clotting and pain. My period returned the next month as usual. It depends on how far along you were when you miscarried.

I also used to have the brownish looking blood when I was on Depo. My doctor prescribed me progestin which is a hormone to help with the spotting. I have heard many bad things about the patch and I hated Depo and got off of it. I now take Ortho Cyclen and you could set a clock and calendar by my periods.

You are always entitled to a second opinion. I don't know how much time you should give your body but if you are still worried go see another doctor.

This is a great link for webmd and provides all sorts of info on what could have happened and what to expect after having a miscarriage. It helped me out a lot.

Went through the same things a few years ago. Mine straightened out after a while, for the most part. Sounds like the brown stuff you're talking about is dried blood. I didn't bleed whatsoever with mine, but had a lot of that brown afterward. It was normal when I had it, so if the doctors saying the same thing I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on yourself and if you still feel uneasy about it, get a second opinion.

Sometimes it just takes a while to get a period again after a miscarriage - up to 6 months I have heard. But your doctor should do an u/s (ultrasound) to see how you are healing up and to make sure there are no adheasions in your uterus (left over lining from the pregnancy that can become infected if not shed).

I had a miscarriage and a d&c. I felt like I wasn't healing properly and my doctor told me to come in for an u/s and sure enough, I needed a 2nd d&c to get everything cleared up. Once that was taken care of my period returned a month later.

A miscarriage should not mess up your body as badly as an abortion, but you seem to be having problems.

There could be other factors such as your age and nearing menopause or an early onset.

Whatever the problems you are experiencing, it is best to get your hormones balanced. To do this, drink a tea made from red raspberry leaves and blessed/ holy thistles; 2 to 4 cups daily for one week. This should help you to return to normal.

Continue visiting your Dr.

Your doctor is right so quit worrying. I have been in that situation and it took me a while to be normal again. If you keep stressing over it then your period won't come. Relax and let nature take its course. Good luck and take care!

Sounds like to me you need a D&C. I think I would go to another doctor and get checked out This doesn't sound right.
I am so sorry you lost your babies.

Good luck!
