There's actually two meanings here, and it packs a big punch, which is probably why it has stood the test of time:

One, is the transparency of glass. It allows you to see what everyone else is up to, but they, in turn, can examine all of your flaws and piccadillos, including your most private moments.

Two, is the fragility of glass. You might hit someone where it hurts with a rock; but if they return fire, they might bring down your entire house.

It actually means that we shouldn't blame others because even others can find fault with us. There is no individual who is 100% correct. We always think for ourselves that we are perfect and whatever we do is right and find faults with others. we need to realise that others are also just like that. they do certain things which look wrong to us because they look correct to them, just as our actions always seems right to us. finally, it comes to that we shouldn't find faults with others as we too have our own mistakes and the way how we dont like others to point at us, even others dont like to be pointed by us.

If you are guilty of some crime and if somebody else commits the same crime don't try to blame him because he may point out that you are also guilty. So far it may not have attracted attention.
