actually it almost worked on me a couple times i see wow its only 9 odllars but really its 10. I dont really see the diffrence. Wow im saving a penny!!!! that will get me a lot

It is an advertising gimmick employed by retailers.

Obviously they are trying to fool us into thinking the product are cheaper.

It seems to work too. At $9.99, it seems cheaper than $10.00!

To the retailers, this 1 cent loss is little compared to the sales it can attract.
