If Medicaid or Medicare is paying for the nursing home, then you pretty much can't have any money. You have to be essentially penniless before they can pay for it (no house, no car, and less than a certain amount in your bank account).

If you are paying for the home yourself, then it doesn' t matter how much or little money you have, as long as you can afford the nursing home!
