The materials that make up the metals where created in a series of nova, red giants, and super nova earlier in the universe. Eventually they coalesced into what is now earth. Heavier elements settled closer to the core and lighter out to the edges. The various metals are contained therein.

They didnt!..The elements were all formed in a star,or stars, and accreted in the earth at formation, some may have even come from violent reactions in the proto sun before it became stable,An exploding star supernova seeded us many eons ago The elements were gravitationly captured and accreated into planets although the sun would have swallowed most of it! These elements are in abundance in the universe,blown away from exploded stars!
