ALL of Dean Koontz's books are awesome. Also a GREAT read is SWAN SONG by Robert R. McCammon, it is kind of like S. Kings' the Stand' but wayyy better.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It's a historical mystery/vampire novel. Good read.

Ditto on Dean Koontz. I'm in love with his Frankenstein trilogy right now, but I'm not sure when/if the 3rd one is out yet. Some of the newer stuff can get mushy at the end, but his early works are great.

Hey girl, don't limit yourself to mysteries and supernatural subjects..... try these too!

Novels by Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist, By the River Piedra, I Sat down and Wept, etc)

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Are You Afraid of the Dark? by Sidney Sheldon

But if you really insist...supernatural or magical? The Harry Potter book series and Chronicles of Narnia!!!!

How old are you, so I know what to recommend? I loved The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (about a father & daughter searching for the real Dracula, Vlad Tepes).
A good horror novel that is fast reading is A House Divided by Deborah LeBlanc, about a haunted house whose present-day owner chops it in half, and the ghost is determined to connect the house back together.
The Last Cato by Matilde Asensi is a good Da Vinci-esque mystery about a secret society determined to protect the original cross Jesus died on.

Tell No One by Harlan Coben, for a specific title. Authors you may check into include: Heather Graham (she does some paranormal suspense type stuff I believe), Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, Harlan Coben, Sandra Brown, Lisa Gardner, Nora Roberts, JD Robb (the In Death series), Carol Higgins Clark, Mary Jane Clark, Phillip Margolin, Tami Hoag, Rachel Lee, Mariah Stewart, etc. Most of these are suspense authors, I don't know too many supernatural titles.

Read "The Theif of Always". Its about this young boy who gets taken to a mysterious land where all the seasons and holidays happen in one day. Morning is Valentines, Afternoon is Easter, Evening is Halloween, Dinner is Thanksgiving followed by Christmas before bedtime. But when he goes home, he finds his life has passed him by. One day there was a year on the outside. Its an amazing tale. Well thought out.

Have you read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho(although it is also somewhat spiritual)? Or A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving? I also like Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon, and The Alienist and Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold read it before the movie comes out. It is a bit morbid but a really good story. The link below tells you a bit more about the Lovely Bones. I also just started to read Janet Evanovich the Stephnie Plum series. It's okay, she has a good writing style that makes me keep reading.
