I am moving. what do I do with an old mattress? Will any charities come and pick it up?

I have no way of transporting it. I would like someone to pick it up who could use it.

Yes! your old mattress may be old to you, but there are so many people that would love it!!! I would call the Salvation Army, I know that they will come to you and pick it up! I would also call a Good Will if you have one near you, and they will come and pick it up.

Charities will not accept used mattresses in most cases. Recently I was able to get rid of an old mattress at a local church charity store because I had kept allergy covers on the mattress and box spring so it was clean and it was not in too bad a shape. There may be a local Charity that helps the very poor and homeless where you live that has the means to pick it up and help you get rid of it.

You could call special pick up (city trash) if there is somewhere to put it outside. Most charities will not take mattresses.
You could list it on craigslist los angeles for free.

Check to see if you have a Teen Challenge in your area.They usually need extra bedding.
