Men leave the toilet seat up for the same reason women prefer that it be left down: that's the position they use it in.

Because nobody showed men or women that if you just close the lid, the seat will be down, too and no more arguing. I have always closed the toilet, and it is an added safety feature for having young children around.

Honestly, we figure that since we look before we use the toilet, you can too. But, since this leads to arguing during things we want to do at other times (like watch the game), those of us that are smart will just put the seat down after we're done.

I think its just a "man" thing.... lol... actually it depends on how they were raised... my cousins were all boys in the family, my aunt didnt have a chance, and their wives say they still have a problem putting the seat down... but my house was mostly girls and the boys in my house grew up knowing how important it was to put it back down.
Now they have invented the automatic flusher... why not take it a step further and invent an automatic seat return that connects up with the auto flush..

Let's get real here. Polite men always put the seat UP when they pee. Women have to sit down to pee. Big problem, right? Let's get real here. It's not that men leave the seat UP, it's that women don't want to TOUCH the seat to put it DOWN, and that's what you call the ROOT CAUSE of the discussion.

i never put the seat up i just leave it down and sometimes a little bit of pee gets on the seat but thats okay.

Pure inconsideration. I want both the seat AND the lid down when no one's using the bathroom.

They get nagged mercilessly if they pee on the seat...they assume they'll return before the queen does...

that way its quicker and easier for us to pee when we need to. I think it's better we do that than pee on the seat, lol
