Messenger was down the better part of yesterday evening, and as for an explanation, could have been hackers again, ya know, those people who have no life, or, it could have been maintenance in preparation for adding msn messenger..

Yahoo was doing some maintenance but it should not have caused problems with your Messenger. You should now be okay, up and running now. If not, disconnect the modem line to your computer. Force your computer shut down pressing and holding the on/off button until shut down. Wait a couple of minutes, turn computer back on. Your computer will show a message, 'improper shutdown detedted'. Let ScanDisk run through completion and load your windows programs and desk top. Shut down computer normal, i.e. Start, Shut Down. Again wait a couple of minutes. Reconnect your modem line to the computer. Turn computer back on. This will reset all the drivers in your program. If this does not work and you can connect to the internet, go to Yahoo Help and do an on-line chat with a Tech. If you decide to do this, disable your pop-up blocker during this chat then re-enable it.
Good Luck.

The Server that Yahoo Messanger runs off of was down. Some parts of it are back up and running, but that whole server is not running like it should be. So if you are still having problems, I would wait it out. Good Luck!!!
