I agree with crazyhumans. It's the way I've been doing it since I started using DSL three years ago.

I didn't have the phone company install the filter though. Right where the phone line comes into the house, right after the interface box, I split the line, and attached a DSL filter to one side. I then attached all the phone lines in the house to that one filter, and my DSL modem to the unfiltered side.

Either that or have the provider install a POTS filter at the main connection. Phone filters are needed if the phones run of the same line. If you have two numbers at home and DSL comes through one line then any phones attached to that line will need filters.

yes, you do, every phone line that will have a phone on it needs a filter. No filter is required for teh DSL modem tho.

I think so yes, I know on some of our phones we have the small little filters on our phones.

Unless you were able to get the installer to put the large filter out on the box, yes, you have to with everyone that is in use.

Yes. Go for a while without them and you will see why. Voice traffic will interfere with data traffic, and vice verca.
