can you receive text messages from a cell phone to the computer? if so how?

I need to know how to receive text on the computer! I know how to send them just not how to receive them<

the person on the other end can send messages to your yahoo messenger account.

Up until Sunday 14th June I had no problems sending messages from Yahoo Messenger to my friend's cell phone. He would receive my message as a text and respond. Since Sunday, I have been able to send messages but none of his responses are getting through to me. WHY?
