No- it will not have any effect at all as the hormone that the test dectects is not progesterone or estrogen, and is produced by the embryo and later on the placenta. If you feel you are pregnant, your best bet is to see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is the most accurate way to test. The best time to test is at least two weeks after a missed period.

There is a special hormone produced by embryos and placentas called HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). The best way to detect this hormone is with an early morning urine sample so that the hormone may be more concentrated and not diluted. Most tests now are so sensitive that a small amount of the hormone can be detected. The problem is that not all embryos implant in the uterine wall and result in pregnancy - so there is a slight chance of a positive test and yet a pregnancy does not result. A positive test should be repeated after 2 weeks or a missed period. If you think there is a chance you are pregnant you should not continue to take the pill! Also, many birth control pills can result in missed periods.
