You need to take her back to the doctors. If she has a fever still, you can give her a dose of Tylenol and a dose of Motrin together to knock the fever out for a while. Then alternate every 3-4 hours between the two. I work in a day care, and we have been having a virus going through the school that no one seems to know what it is. It has been lasting about a week, with high fevers and vomiting. Also have the doctor check her for pharyngitis. It is a swelling of the posterior glands in the throat. According to the doctor I took my son to, there is no medication to cure it, and it could take up to 3-6 weeks to completely heal.

Yay on gaining an ounce! Did the vet ever diagnose her? I hope this is a good vet who knows what he's doing, because some vets are simply stupid when it comes to cats. I do have one suggestion. My 5 year old kitty named Mia went through a very weird crisis last Thanksgiving that was never fully diagnosed and she not only lost weight, but it got so bad her liver enzymes started rising. The vet had given me some nutrition packed, prescription food called Science Diet A/D. What's good about it is the consistency if you need to syringe it, but it sounds like your kitten doesn't need that. But this stuff is so packed with nutrients that they warn you not to use it more than week. Ask your vet to give you a can or so of it. It was only $1.99 per can and it saved my kitty's life. Also, females are generally smaller than males, so you don't necessarily want her to be the same size. You just don't want her thin :)

Hi, I know this is really scary for you as a parent, you feel so helpless. I would get a second opinion. I dont know where youre located but in Canada we have a help line you can call toll free to talk to a nurse who will give you advice. I would search online for a health line you can call for advice. My next 2 pieces of advice are as follows : There is a baby's Motrim which lasts 8 hours for pain and fever relief and I found with both of my babies it worked better than tylenol. Tempra also worked for us as well. There are fever reducing suppositories if youre willing to go there that make the dosing easier and they break fevers really quickly. You can ask for them at any drugstore. It makes it easier to keep track of how much your baby is actually getting unlike medicine that they can spit out. Lastly PEDIALITE is awesome, you can buy it in freezies it is full of electrolytes and will ensure she/he doesnt dehydrate. It also gives them back some of their original "pep" and strength. My baby loved it. I bought the freezies and some in a bottle that you can just feed them in their baby bottle. My baby prefered the pedialite freezies it felt good on her gums as well and she found it to be a real treat as she cant normally have freezies.
Hang in there, if you find the pedialite very costly, try freezies or crushed popsicle it will help with the dehydration and your baby should be enticed by them
XOXO

You didn't say what sort of tests the doc did for her, but I would definitely call and express your concerns. You'll feel better if you can get some reassurance and the doctor should be able to tell you if you need to bring her back in.
If she is taking fluids and keeping them down and her fever is decreasing then she is likely getting better. Weight loss is normal when you have a stomach virus. It's really when the symptoms are worsening that you should really be concerned. But call your doctor and see what he says.

If shes still running a fever you should take her to a doctor as soon as possible. If she seems really bad take her to a urgent care center or call your nearest hostpital for assistance. I hope she does well.

PS : She may need a IV if she has a stomach virus.

With the fever and vomiting she can get severely dehydrated quickly and that is particularly dangerous for an infant. You must take her to the local hospital emergency room to be evaluated for dehydration. The next time this happens try to give her pedialyte which is recommended by pediatricians for prevention of dehydration.

i would take her back to the dr and have them do blood work to actually see if it is a virus. Although viruses can live in the body for up to 14 days...the stomach virus usually only last 2 days at the most.

so if it were my child she would return to the dr and be seen asap.

Losing weight would be normal if she is vomiting, but the whole thing isn't normal altogether. This is a long time for her to be sick with a fever. Take her to the hospital.
