I've sprayed to no effect, thinking of wrapping everything in plastic!

Actually, that's a very good idea. Get a large plastic bag (furniture dealers would love to give them away to avoid filling up their dumpsters). Bag the couch and wait for a couple of weeks. The bugs will die from asphyxiation. It must be well-sealed, though! Use a tight knot.
And don't pay any mind to these people who can toss a couch at the drop of a hat. They must have momey to burn.

http://www.thwartbugbedrepel.com/ ---- try here. A coworker actually suggested this for bed bugs and fleas. She moved into a new home not knowing it had bed bugs. She tried everything for like 2 months before she found this. ALSO... VACUUM VACUUM VACUUM. Bed bugs are becoming an epidemic in the US lately... I recommend going to walmart and getting the 50 dollar bagless vacuum so you can empty it every time instead of having them come back out of the bag. EMPTY IT OUTSIDE!!! Inspect your trim too. They can also hide in the cracks between the trim and the wall.. make sure you spray there too!!!! Keep at this for about 2 weeks... new hatchlings will show up it you dont keep at it after they hatch!!

Spraying does not have much effect on bedbug. Even if you wrap everything in plastic it wont do much good as bedbug dont die very fast. Best solution is kerosene, take kerosene and apply to corners of furniture, folded material, behind stitches, other places where they are likely to hide. They start coming out with the smell of it but they wont go in one stretch, as their eggs may keep on hatching. You will have to do it three or four times.
Keep furniture in direct sunlight for three four days.
If furniture is completely of wood, you can pour hot water in the corners and joints.
Check your clothes too, you may sometimes find them in the linings

er low tech answer.. get your stuff sunned. Enjoyable seeing those bloodsuckers buy it. Before returning the stuff check surrounding areas too. That could be why you get re insfestations. You are still missing some of em and it takes a short time to repopulate. Good luck. If you have a concrete floor with no rugs or anything. Try spreading borax on the floor but no air circulation like fans or airconditioning to disturb the powder.

I have heard that Bounce dryer sheets get rid of all sorts of bugs. Maybe try lining a few under the couch, under the cushions, on top of the cushions, etc. THEN wrap everything in plastic to see if that may help?

If I were you, I'd definitely call an exterminator though...Good luck!

If it is bedbugs....you have a serious problem. Even several treatments, by a professional exterminator may not get rid of them.
DDT is about the only thing that works and it's outlawed.
If you decide to move...don't take anything with you they could hide in. ie. clothes, picture frames, furniture

Try a spray called Camicide. I've seen it at the larger hardware chain. Works on just about any bug.

Encase the furniture in a large plastic bag, vacuum out the air, wait a long time.

Eeep! Burn the thing! No seriously- call an exterminator, and if the bugs are only in specific furniture pieces, drag them outside.
