my babies started showing all those signs of teething at the same age. But none off them got any teeth for like 2 months after that. If the orajel seems to help him though, why not? It wont hurt him any if you use it occassionally

It certainly sounds like he is teething. This can go on for a couple of months before there is any visible sign of a tooth though! Orajel or any other teething gel should be ok to use a few times a day if he gets too uncomfortable. Have you tried using one of those gel teething rings that can be put in the fridge to chill? They're a good alternative and gives him something to chomp on too. Don't use once the tooth is through though as it could pierce it.

He can teeth for long periods of time. a couple of my children showed teething signs for a few months before they ever got any teeth at all. Orajel should be ok as long as you are sure he IS teething. there's nothing you can really do for them except keep them as content as possible during this time with things like teething rings, gum numbers like orajel, humphries, pain relievers (when needed) etc. good luck mommy! It'll all be over soon enough.

He is definately teething, you may not see the teeth for awhile but it is definately happening. What is hurting him is the teeth pushing to the surface of the gum. Orajel will not hurt him even if you give it to him every couple hours, no worries. Please use it for your sanity and so he isn't in pain all day. A chew toy also helps get those teeth to the surface faster and feels good to him.

I was told by my pediatrician to be very careful when giving her orajel b/c it can numb her throat and she could choke.....you know your baby best tho to how she handles it. Just be careful lying her down right after giving her some.
She started teething around 4months and her first tooth popped through at exaclty 6mths old.
When my daughter was teething her were things that helped soothe her:
(attended of course).
Cold wet wash cloth to chew on. (She would chew/suck on this for hours out of the day)
Baby einstein catapillar teething ring (they were the best in my opinion).
Sugar Free Popsicle's when she was really in pain.
Bitter Biscuts by Gerber.
Zwieback Toast (baby food isle).
Those link-rings.
Frozen Waffles.
Frozen french fries.

yes those are the beginning signs of teething, it can take weeks for that first tooth to actually start coming through. there are several things you can try. frozen bananas, ice cubes, they have this teething net that you put frozen fruit and stuff into that they can suck and chew on without any risk of choking. you can also try small amount of Tylenol, although i would consult the nurse at your ped. office first. You can also try gently pushing on his gums with a clean finger, it relieves the pain. other than that, keep them happy and comfortable, teething isn't fun.

first notice if maybe he is doing it more so 20-30 minutes after eatting. my daughter has some of those same symptoms but hers is actually from acid reflux. teething generally comes w/ fevers, is he running a fever? orajel shouldnt hurt him if hes not teething but ya never want to have to give meds if you dont have to. but look into the acid reflux and pay attention after he eats to make sure thats not the case. good luck!

Believe me you can literally wake up one day and there will be a tooth! It's Summer time, do not be afraid to give him a freeze pop or Popsicle to soothe his gums, a cool damp wash cloth (in the freezer about 10-15min) works wonders too.
Good Luck!

it is the teeth moving down and causing the gums to itch just because there is nothing happening doesn't mean he is not teething..
