Yes, any nation attacked from another nation has the right to try to stop or kill the attackers. The government of Lebanon agreed in 2000 to us UN peacekeepers to kick Hezbollah out of south Lebanon. The UN and Lebanon failed to live up to the 2000 agreement. The people of Lebanon CANNOT watch as Hezbollah shoots missles into Israeli villages and then be surprised when Israel shoots back. They have sown the wind and are reaping the whirlwind.

Israel is not attacking the Lebanese government they are attacking the terrorist that the country of Lebanon has permitted to operate against Israel. If Lebanon wants to waste it's poor military on Israel the fight may take a day or two more but not much longer. There is no power in the area that can handle Israel and they know it. The rest of the world should back up Israel because anyone with half a brain knows what has happened was triggered by Iran with the go ahead of Syria which is a weak country full of terrorist.

They certainly have to right to protect themselve for those bloody rockets that are being shot at them and from having thier citizens kidnapped and held for ranson. Whether all this distruction being heaped on Lebanon is warrented, I don't know. Hopefully the world and Geo Bush will quite pussy footing around Isreal and take some action to stop the destruction. Then a long term solution will be necessary.

First, enable me say that your description of Israel "attacking Lebanon" is inaccurate, they're "attacking Hesbollah". Hezbollah especially a lot runs Lebanon, even with a UN determination telling Hesbollah to disarm in want of the Lebanon protection rigidity. This determination blanketed an contract that Israel might want to go away Lebanon. Israel kept up their end of the best deal, Lebanon/Hezbollah did not. This action is energetic self-protection by using Israel. Hesbollah is more effective than a small crew of terrorists, they're a terrorist military funded by using Iran, and provided and supported by using Syria. both international locations, pretty Iran, have supported the destruction of Israel and the shortcoming of existence of the Jews. The media, besides because the United international locations, will say that Israel is utilising "disproportionate rigidity" in combating Hezbollah, almost ignoring the very incontrovertible certainty that it changed into the latter crew that attacked Israel, killing 8 of it is squaddies, and capturing 2 others. thinking the UN's commonplace entire lack of action to uphold any of it is resolutions (to that end the UN peacekeepers were considered playing volleyball as Hezbollah places missiles among civilian housing advancements) Israel had no determination yet to react with optimal rigidity to decrease the flexibility of it is enemies. The media will also mimic Hezbollah's disinformation corp even as they say that few of their "squaddies" are killed, yet that harmless "civilians" are being decimated by using Israeli bombings, even however Israel is concentrated on Hezbollah instantly, even with the very incontrovertible certainty that the crew hides among the harmless, and does no longer positioned on any uniform. you'll stumble on the significant objective of Hezbollah is ANY Israeli citizen, and is under no circumstances concentrated. In precis, Israel has the right to self-protection antagonistic to terrorists funded and educated by using Syria and Iran.

Israel is relying too much on an air campaign because their current Chief of Staff, Dan Halutz, is an air force guy who has never had ground war experience. Like many Air Force believers, he believes that it is possible to fight and win a war solely by relying on the Air Force, with minimal ground forces engagement.
This is a false belief because Hizbollah is supported by Shi'ite Muslims who live in the south of Lebanon, not birds which fly in the air.
For a more detailed explanation of what is going, please read the link below, which is written by a retired US military advisor to the Israeli Defense Forces.

Did the USA have a 'right' to attack Iraq?
What does any of this have to do with reality?
People attack each other, so do countries. To claim there is a right to do so, is just a matter of defending the indefensible.
