Congrats!
Try Dayquil. Even if you aren't feeling better you need to go. That way the coach, or whatever you call him, will know you want to be there. He may send you home and still let you march next year.

You are in luck. The worst of a cold usually lasts four days. So get plenty of rest (no staying up all night on the computer!) and drink lots of water. You can take something mild like sudafed or generic sudafed to help with the stuffy nose before you go to practice. And be sure to have a supply of tissues in your pocket. Other cold medicines mess up your head and you do not want to go to practice the first day with a messed up head! Good luck and remember to guide right!

Here's a different thought: call the band leader to explain. Go to the doctor on Monday to get a medical note.
Aside from that, go to a drugstore and ask the druggist what over-the-counter treatment they reccomend. For a sore throat a lot of people gargle with warm, salty water - mix some salt into a glass of warm water (as warm as you can stand it - but don't burn yourself).
Good luck!

First of all, because you're young, that cold of yours will be much better in two days. You will likely still have the sniffles, etc., but you'll be able to get through the first day of practice. So stop stressing - your body needs to rest right now so it can fight off the virus. Drink plenty of organge juice, have a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and take Nyquil tonight so you can sleep tonight. Hang in there kid, and congrats and making the band!

OD on Vitamin C. Take some 500 mg tablets of that vitamin (doan worry, it will not hurt you physically). And please let your director know of your situation as soon as possible. Believe me, anyone will understand your situation and would give you a proper chance when you are feeling your best.
I remember once when I was really sick and I showed up to rehearsal. I remember my instructor trying to tell me that I was doing something wrong and I told him that I was sick. He told me that an excuse like that is no reason to not to try your best. A person's character is measured when they are set to a task in worst possible condition. So if you find yourself in that situation: do not dwell on the fact that you are sick, but dwell on your will to do your best.
Good luck rookie! I hope you find the same level of satisfaction from marching band that I did.

Depending on how serious the cold is honey, there are different ways of coping with it. But because you want to get ride of it soon, go to the doctors see what kind of prescription they give u. Most importantly, drink lots of water (so you can flush out the bacterias) and REST!!! rest a lot too...

There's no cure for the Cold. All you can do is allay the symptoms until your body fights off the virus.

Try ColdEeze, or something like that. While you can stay in and rest, try eating some chicken soup and tea with honey.
