The Holy land deli on Central and Lowry in Nordeast is a favorite of mine and gets a lot of recognition for being a great place (best place to buy pitas is their attached market). It's a little vacation away from the USA too, with the music, the language and all the spices--fun!
I hear El Burrito in St. Paul is great, I just haven't found it yet! All along Lake St. are tons of great Mexican restaurants, I really liked the one a little west of Hiawatha called something like Nuevo Rodeo. Go to Eat Street, Nicollet Ave. between 24th and 28th there are bunches of different cuisines, most reasonably priced. My favorites there are Pho 79, Bubble Delight and Quang.
St. Paul has some amazing places, but my favorites tend to be a bit higher priced.
Enjoy!
