Helloooo, look at any "religion/culture that advicates stoning your own daughter for adultry...can you even imagine. This is comonl=lace in you-know-where...Look at the atrocities that were happening in desert toilets like Iraq! and ioother places where barbarians have absolutely no respect for any human life, especially female.!

Don't know about the first part of your question but many animals understand the concept of family that is why they congregate in packs, herds, flocks, etc. Keep in mind: Swans, and most ducks, mate for life which beats the human track record.
I think that most creatures recognize that there is strength in numbers.
