I have always thought that it wasn't, but just reccently some has told me it was.

It's not legal, but it's hard to prove. Also, even in places where there are no criminal laws covering the particular behavior, one can sue for abuse of all kinds. Again, the problem is proving it. It basically becomes the battle of the experts, and the experts are shrinks. Not a fun time for anyone.

Abuse is not sanctioned by law. Emotional abuse is every bit as serious as physical abuse. It should not be tolerated; just because someone doesn't slug you...doesn't mean they are not hurting you. Many times, it isn't just the target of abuse that is affected by it...it infects everyone around them...and represents the issues of the abuser. Abuse of any kind runs very deep and scars the soul in ways not always fully understood...and takes many years to recover from.

it probably is, unless its in the workplacethen its "harassment"
sadly lawmakers overlook it in the HOME and FAMILY between husbands-wives and parents-children, the place where its rampant and really should be punishable. :(

No it is not.Abuse is abuse.As long as you can prove it you have a case.
