Too many people here are telling you it's OK. It's not OK. A child now will occupy you for the next 18 to 20 years and the chances are pretty good you will have another child in that 18 to 20 year period which starts that clock all over again. That means you will put your life on hold for that period. It is very difficult to better your life station with a family; you must put providing for that family before self-betterment. That means after your job and daycare and soccer and Christmas and transportation and housing and on and on, then you can slide in a class here and there. It is also almost impossible to develop a career with small children at home. It is best to develop a career THEN have children.

The decisions you make NOW will affect you for the rest of your life; make them wisely.

Ya know, everyone on here is going to say no, BUT who is honestly financially stable? Did you know that 70% of Americans are in debt to some degree? That's not stable. So that said, probably 5% of people that have children are 'technically' financially stable. Sometimes you really can't help you financial situation.

Absolutely NOT! If you yourself at this time are not financially stable, there is no way you are going to get there by the time the child arrives. It is selfish of people to bring innocent children into the world and not be able to provide for them. No child asks to live in poverty and not every parent can afford to give their children the absolute best of everything, like the Jordan sneakers, or the desinger purse, BUT, providing for a child's basic needs and some wants is a parent's priority. Futhermore, children are EXPENSIVE! How can you manage the expense of a baby that includes, diapers, doctors, formula, clothes, daycare, and whatever else unexpected if you at the present time are struggling providing for yourself? Something to really, really, really think about!

the truth, It will be hard. My husband and I are pregnant after 5 years of trying. we weren't financially stable. I mean we were both working when I first found out I was pregnant. It was a surprise when we found out because we had just quit trying. I am now almost 39 weeks, due anyday. we couldn't be happier. There are places that will help with cribs and other items. our police station gives a free carseat and they have a pregnancy help center, with no income guidelines that gives you evrything you need. Bottles, clothes, diapers, baby book, ointment, bath supplies, ect.. There are people to help. A child is a blessing. There is no wrong or right time. I had to quit my job when I was 3 months due to complications. My husband has been supporting us since and we are doing just fine. We may not have 20 bucks left over each week but a baby is worth everything.

Generally, it's not a good idea to TRY to get pregnant until your finances are in order.

But sometimes people get pregnant when they're not expecting to... and that's no reason to have an abortion or give it up for adoption if you don't believe in those options. It is possible, and while it will be harder you can do it.

If this is a question you're asking for yourself, you have 9 months to get your finances in order. Seek some counseling and WORK AND SAVE! You're not going to be able to work when you first have the baby, so hopefully you'll get some kind of maternity leave from the job you had while you were pregnant, and even with that you'll need some help. From the babys father, from your family, from his family whatever... and if it comes down to it you CAN get money from the government too, but I think that road should only be taken when absolutly necessary.

Babies are VERY expensive, but it's worth every penny.

Depends on your definition of financially stable. Someone who's finances are an absolute mess should wait until they can handle things better. It will only be harder with a child to provide for. Finances don't need to be perfect or anything either. Someone who can't take care of themself, shouldn't be having a child. But it happens all the time and there's welfare to help. Problem is too many people don't use welfare simply out of absolute necessity.

i think that if every one waits until they are financially stable to have kids, the human population would die off except for the rich people who never have anything to worry about. if you significant other fight about money all the time it is not a smart thing to do because the fighting will get worse(personal experience)If you really want a child.....first thing is to have a reliable job even at a mcdonald's if you must....there are programs to help you like WIC.....don't worry about what people say about being on WIC.......just look at them and say "at least i am working and not completely dependant on government programs like many people are." if that doesn't shut them up just say i wanna make sure that my child/children are as healthy as the can be and being on state help with ensure this........good luck

No but financially stable doesn't mean rich. If you can't handle basic math (money) then how do you think you can handle a child?

I don't know if anyone feels they are completely ready, financially or otherwise. If you are still young and have a plan regarding where you are going to be in the next few years, and you know it would make a big difference to wait, then wait. Still, most people who have money concerns when they're pregnant find a way to make it work.
