Go with the needle. I have the cartilidge on both my ears done and getting pierced with the gun isn't recommended for ANY piercing except your ear lobes. Please don't get it done at one of those kiosks in the mall... go to a tattoo place. It will cost more but your health shouldn't be compromised to save a few bucks.

Side effects can include keloids, infection, swelling, pain, redness, burning and rejection of the jewelry. Some of these side effects will occur regardless of which piercing method you choose, but will usually completely subside with time. Others, however, may be permanent, but can usually be avoided if you go with the real pros.

First, cartiliage piercings can't effectively be done by a gun because they're designed to sit on a flat surface (ie the lobe), whereas the cartiliage is lumpy and curvy. Second, guns are not sterile instruments. They cannot be cleaned with an autoclave, meaning germs, viruses (including Hepatitis and Aids), and other bacteria can get trapped and passed on to other people. Third, guns were originally designed to tag cattle... not exactly the noblest way to get your ear pierced.

Getting the cartiliage pierced feels only a little different than getting your lobe pierced. The lobe piercing is a little pressure (as the needle causes pressure on the fatty tissue before piercing the skin), and then a quick little pinch as it enters the skin. The cartiliage piercing is only a slightly longer pinch, without the pressure.

I agree with your mom. I got mine done with a gun, and it ended up getting an infection. Since then all of my piercings have been done with a needle at an actual piercing studio. I also think that it hurts a lot less that way, and there's less chance of infection.

a needle is better because the gun will cause a bump to appear because no cartilage is removed. the needle is the same as the gun it's just hollwed out to remove a piece of cartilage to make a hole for the earring. they are equal in pain since both are doing the same task but the needle is far better.

There are no side effects. I got mine with a needle and it doesn't hurt as bad. Just tell your mom she is a chicken.

a tendency to take observe of idiots who think of there is a few thing incorrect with doing it - in any different case no part effects. not often dropping semen btw - it dies and gets reabsorbed if no longer 'used'. equivalent to the Bette Midler tale approximately catching her boyfriend in the act - telling him to shop it till they have been married. (To which he replied - i'm and have have been given a million/2 a jar finished already).

yeah it hurts but if you want it, you want it. pain is temporary. the piercing will last as long as you want it to. as far as long term side effects i've still got laboratory on that one we only have studies lasting for one year at this point.
