I have had this installed for a few months now & have not really had any viruses. However, I seem to be being attacked by a worm. I have run the antivirus & done a scan of all my files & drives but it still seems to be there. Does anyone know this program or have any ideas.
Thanks alot for your time.

First Delete it and get a well known one.
See list of rouge software and the end of my suggestion.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and
Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition.
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy
(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone
Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just
(www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.
These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

If any of these people took the time to be knowledgeable they would know that in independent testing Anit-vir came out way on top of most anti-virus applications including avast and avg. Most anti-virus applications are made to detect viruses not trojans, worms, etc. Try a program like Ewido or Spycatcher -express for your worm issue.

I have been repairing computers for years and Norton is not the way to go! If you are a home user there is no need for you to pay for anti-virus software. I have removed many viruses from computers running Norton.

I suggest uninstalling Avira and download AVG Anti-Virus (which was already recommended), then update the virus definitions, and run a full system scan - to download AVG go here - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/tools_anti_virus.html. To learn how to install AVG go here - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/how_to_install_avg_anti_virus.html

you should never install a anti-virus program that has 1.been recommended by trusted sources 2.that you havent heard of 3.that is advertised as a pop-up on a web page
there are a few well known free programs you can pick from, firstly uninstall the program you are currently using by going start>control panel>add/remove programs
2 trusted programs are 1)avast anti-virus from http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and 2)a.v.g free from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/,these are both tried and tested by 1000,s of happy p.c users
read up about any software before you install it,remember its going to be keeping you safe while you surf the web so you need to know all about it
good luck

I have AVG on 8 of my computers and Avast on 2. I find both to be very good protection. I have had AVG for over 4 years and just upgraded to 7.5 I highly recommend it. There are several levels of protection that should be used along with antivirus protection 1) Constant OS updates. 2) Firewall, which are also freeware. 3) AntiSpyware. This, unlike antivirus, can have and should have several. 4) Router w\NAT (either dialup or broadband). 5) Alternate browser. IE is very unsecure.

Free anti virus programs are not effective at all, they just pretend scanning. Its only a waste of time. I reckon to buy Norton to stay virus free, but not 100%. Still it works.

I think one should always install tried & tested Anti-virus, specially when best anti-virus is freely available. You can uninstall the Avira & download & install free edition AVG Anti-virus from www.download.com

Its the best protection from trojan, worms & other nasty viruses.

AVG free is about the best you'll get for free. Unistall and go with that. Also for a worm or other malware you should have another scanner and there is a couple of good ones for free. Check here for best free tojan scanner, ad/spyware scanner...this site is a book mark

Listen to the advice that "alnjk" gave you. He is correct and he correctly backed his information with a source.

Everyone else was just being a fanboy for whatever anti-virus they happen to use.
