She's not. The status of living legend is reserved for people like Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Cher, Madonna.... it takes years to be considered a living legend. Will Britney Spears be one someday? Only time will tell, but for right now....she is not. She is hugely popular and has made a mark in the industry, but she is in no shape, way, or form "a living legend".

Is she a living legend or is she on her way out? Her fans are growing up will they buy her music as adults or will they encourage the next generation to emulate her and will the next generation want to look up to an aging pop star with a life lambasted in the press? I sincerely think that in ten years Britney's name will be mentioned in the "Where are they now" columns.

I think she is just an awesome singer not more then that.

Brittany Spears is a joke. She reminds me of like a 13 year old trying to have a baby and taking care of it. She needs to grow up and learn that stupid people shouldnt breed. Not to say that the baby is stupid but that she is stupid for having kids. She should catch a CPS case. They should take her kids and give them to someone who would actually be careful with them and not try to drop them or put them in harms way.

She's sold nearly 100 million albums, which puts her on a pretty short-list of the most popular acts ever. She ushered in an entire new movement of music (yeah, it was bad music, but who are you and I to judge?). She set numerous trends in pop culture (sure they were bad trends but who are we to judge?).
Basicaly, however you feel about her, you can't ignore someone who's had such a large impact on the industry.
I mean, look at how many answers it prompted just by putting her name in a question!!!!

I wouldn't call her a legend... she's popular because she makes money for the gossip magazines because shes always doing stupid stuff and she started as an underage sex symbol
