First, before the doctor...try these for one week:

1. Avoid excessive caffiene...drink one cup of coffee in the morning if you must have caffiene

2. Avoid as much sugar as you can...so no candy or soda

3. Drink at least 8x 8oz glasses of water each day. You can get 2 of those big 1 liter bottles of water and have your minimum requirement of water done for the day; one in the morning and one in the afternoon or spread it out as you'd like.

4. Exercise for 30 minutes each day, even if it is just walking for 30 minutes straight. Something to get the blood pumping

5. Take a multivitamin every day. If you are male, look for ones without iron

6. Get 7-8 hours of good sleep each night. If you have trouble falling or staying asleep, before bed, drink either Bigelow's "Sweet Dreams" tea or Celestrial Seasons "Sleepy Time" Tea. They will help you relax naturally and fall asleep (and stay asleep)

If you don't have more energy by doing this after a week, see a doctor.

Captnmhunt has a point. If you are constantly tired, thirsty alot, have to get up in the middle of the night to urinate, and have dry flaky skin- those are signs of diabetes. Get to your doctor regardless of whether or not you have all those symptoms. You shouldn't be feeling tired all the time. You may be low in your iron levels, you could be diabetic, you could have fibromyalgia- but you won't know any of this until the doctor runs some tests to find out for sure. Best wishes for better health!

First are there any disease processes at work that may be giving you this problem to determine this you should see your doctor. Are you in good physical shape as in do you exercise and have an active life at least before you started feeling this way. Are you getting enough rest or do you feel there is a problem with your quality of sleep. If for instance you snore has anybody ever mentioned that you stop breathing while sleeping. Your bed may be torn up in the morning and you don't get up feeling refreshed. If this is the case consider a sleep study to determine if you have apnea.

I know its like a vicious circle.....but excercise and diet do help. I go through phases of being tired and can't really be bothered to do anything, but when I make the effort to take excercise it really helps. Stress at work is also a big contributor to feeling like this. This hot weather we are having certainly doesn't help.

Without knowing anything else about you, my first recommendation is to have a complete physical examination to rule out anything medically that could be impacting your energy level, and then go from there.

I read this twice. The way you layer longer story-related prose is admirable, and something I have much trouble with. You make it seem effortless, natural, but all of us who write know the opposite is true. I often measure the effectiveness of a piece by the number of TD's........Jealousy rears it's green head. Kudos to you, Mr Carney.

I'm not a doctor but is your diet healthy?

If not plenty of fresh fruit, veg and water, water is the key without 2litres a day you will be sluggish and tired.
