There's a lot going on in this question.
If Cthulhu was looking for me, no I wouldn't fear Dagon. I'd fear Cthulhu. Dagon is the size of one of Cthulhu's toes.
The Deep Ones won't "come back" because they never left. In fact this weekend I was looking at a book about strange things in New England and there was a section on a bunch of reclusive fish-eyed toad-looking people who live right here in CT. Imagine that.
I'm not sure why the Old Ones return would make me fear Dagon either. I'd probably only fear Dagon if I was a Deep One hybrid or looking to transform into a Deep One or involved in the Esoteric Order of Dagon.
