I like to wrap one side around my head and keep it intact with a brooch or pin.

Ok, first of all, hijab and burka are NOT symbols of slavery and such. It preserves the dignity. Hijab is for the soul as well as the body. Now I wear the hijab + burka, and that doesnmake me feel oppressed. In fact , it t doesnt stop me from doing anything. For the last two years I had been wearing hijab, i had been getting more respect from the people i meet wherever i go (allhamdullillah).
Regarding my question, there are many ways girls wear their hijab (in a way it actually does cover their hair.)

As i m from a muslim family..i hav been tought since i was a kid to cover myself properly...though i dont wear a borkha..but i hav made a habbit of covering my head always...i cover my head with the orna that i wear with my salwar kamiz....most of my ornas are opaque and quite broad that not only covers my head it also covers my body...
But i usually like borkha...coz its a perfect form of hizab and smart too.

Assalaam Aleykum..

I like to keep my head scarf and hijab simple...I wish I could wear my scarf in the many beautiful complicated ways that I see many women doing..but I just find it too fussy for me,..

So I wear a simple squared shaped head scarf that is pinned under the chin.. I wear different colours and designs to match my outfit..
And I like this style because it is simple and smart, and provided full coverage, including around my chest area.. which is very useful!!!! Since I tend to wear western clothes..and it is difficult to find tops that are not low cut! Usually I just wear a long sleeved top or cardigan with a long skirt..Occasionally I wear a jilbab but not often..
I live in England and I think that it is enough..but when I travel to different countries I wear more if I feel it necessary. For example in Iran I wear a chador most of the time...

the hijab and the burka are symbolic of male dominance and repression of females and should be banned as such. They're essentially symbols of slavery.
